Learning Experience
Each student receives a printable weekly skill checklist and has the option to print lessons and additional resources. Lessons are pre-recorded to be watched at your own pace. The instructor sets up optional one on one live-meets by appointment to check-in, discuss future plans, and individual help with the course content. We make learning fun for all ages by integrating the latest technologies. Optional additional learning tools are provided with each unit, such as videos, web resources, games, and more. Each unit contains 1-3 hours of lecture (recorded over Power Point). You may print the Power Point notes to create your own binder at home. The NAVTA skill checklist is meant to coordinate with each unit and is to be observed/practice when you complete an externship. You can additionally research each skill on YouTube where you will find a number of demonstrations. Even though there is tons of information in the course, practice makes perfect. You need to practice veterinary assisting skills in the real world to become an employable veterinary assistant.

Hands-On Experience
Students are required to find their own externship site, but the instructor will help you with the proposal to local veterinary offices. We will provide you with an email to copy/paste to hospital managers and the instructor is more than happy to join a phone call with the manager to explain the program. Outside of major cities, you may have to travel to find an externship site and there is no guarantee you will be placed in an externship. The minimum requirements are often that you are actively enrolled in an educational program, you have health insurance, and you sign a liability waiver. Some hospitals will not accept students without insurance. We do not provide insurance, however, we rarely have come across any issues. The program can still be completed without the externship, although it is highly recommended for the hands-on skills. It just takes some due diligence to find a hospital willing to host an extern. You will be provided with a weekly skill checklist to be completed under the supervision of a veterinary technician or veterinarian.

Education & Career Counseling
In addition to help with the course content, the optional live meets can be utilized for career planning and counseling. This program is informative and personable, as the students are not just viewed as a hefty tuition price tag. Throughout years of student counseling, the instructor has helped students plan for veterinary medical school, pursue veterinary technology, become a teacher, dog groomer, or a pet service business owner. Veterinary & animal-related college & career advisement is our specialty. "I enjoy helping others with the same passion, working with animals, achieve their career goals. Please do not hesitate to set up a 1:1 phone or zoom call to discuss your future and to better understand the different levels of certification and degrees offered in the veterinary/animal industry." This program is a great start for those considering veterinary technology, veterinary medicine, or furthering their education in the field before spending many thousands of dollars on college tuition.
